The Post wedding lunch took place at the Gin trap, a local watering hole in Ahuriri.
I was still full from my mammoth breakfast at the Mahia St Kitchen but went for a Scotch fillet with garlic butter and salad cooked medium rare anyway, I was on holidays and saw no reason to deny myself the pleasure of grilled meat.
The place was quiet for a Sunday, we made up most of the people there, and it was, like every other establishment along the wharf, a converted warehouse; with the same chilled out vibe.
Now to the steak.
I must have gotten unlucky because I was 1 of 3 people who ordered a steak, and I was the only one who had major problems. It was over cooked, tough and grainy because of it, and just seasoned poorly.
The beef was pretty average as well which didn’t help.
It was lacking in all terms and was not at all a pleasure to eat, the short review basically sums up my feelings on the steak, which was unfortunate as the actual venue was great.
