University Village, Chicago
On my way home the night before my Uber driver told me to check out Jim’s original so before breakfast I did just that.
The place is the last standing Establishment of its kind in the area, keeping its authenticity all these years and having no Affiliation with the copy cats it is 76 years strong.
On recommendation from my driver I got the pork chop and because it was so damn cheap I got a polish as well.
By cheap I mean $10 for both with chips with both and a drink.
I got them with mustard and onions and a couple of peppers.
I started with the pork chop with was bone in, somewhat of an inconvenience but unfortunately not even the worst part. While the flavours were great, the mustard and onion really accentuating the sandwich the pork was super dry at most parts.
I ditched it when I hit bone and took up the polish sausage. I started with it traditional just Mustard and onions and was very happy with it, I then got creative and added ketchup and fries and made it a meal in a bun. It was astounding and to my dismay I finished it all.
It’s open 24 hrs. and is the perfect anytime food. I will be back.
