Damn the Weather
Pioneer Square, Seattle, WA
My first stop in Seattle was a Casual Bar; I really liked the name and vibe of the place; playing on Seattle being known for their damn weather was great.
I had a quick look at the menu online and had an idea of what I wanted to order, unfortunately they had not updated the online menu and I was left scratching my head as to what to order.
I started with a drink which, was quite expertly crafted if I do say so, and decided to order the scallop tartare with lemon, tomato and chorizo as well as the sweet potato dumplings, basically gnocchi, that was served with a simple brown butter and sage sauce all topped with a bunch of parmesan.
The scallop came out first and was great, soft, fresh and zesty; a really well constructed dish with every element adding a layer to the dish; the chorizo was a great addition adding that salty meatiness to the flavour profile. I could’ve had a couple serves of this quite easily.
The gnocchi was up next and was just as great. The gnocchi was cooked to perfection then quickly pan grilled with the sauce so it was fantastically fluffy but crisp at the same time while the butter and sage were at an absolutely pinpoint level with the addition of the cheese bringing It to the next level.
From what I tried I was very very impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of each dish and would gladly go back to check it out again.
